Five found some hills....

On our Thursday ride to Sandy lane tea room at Whirley.

I arrived at the start and found Susie being taught how to fix a puncture by Jim and Phil. She had ridden over from Macclesfield and arrived with a soft front tyre which became very flat when she removed the thorn causing the problem.

Our ride out took us the back way around Alderley, through Mottram St Andrew, then up Oak Road. Ruth met us at the junction with Withinlee Road and we climbed up to Over Alderley reading rooms, then a long descent down Birtles. There was more traffic than usual, due to the closure of the Wizard road into Alderley. The loop around to Henbury and up to the tearoom was quieter but gave us some more climbing practice, plus we had chance to chat to Simon Gr and Kev who happened to be riding part of the same loop.

Phil was disappointed to find that the tearoom is not doing meals during the summer, but made do with cake. Phil and Susie took the short route back to Macclesfield, and the rest of us took the short route back towards Mottram St Andrew. It stayed dry for us, and I think we enjoyed the climbing!
