Not so easy hilly ride to Blaze Farm

Thirteen of us set off from Broken Cross for a steady ride in the hills. Welcome to Paul on his first ever ride with the club, and Matt on his first Sunday ride. We also had Fiona, and Nigel, both back for a second Sunday ride.

John led, and I looked after the back of the group, my natural position in the hills! It was cool when we set off, but the sun appeared as we reached Macclesfield Forest. John made sure that we had plenty of stops so that we could keep together. He also added an optional loop past Wincle church, 10 riders decided to go with him, leaving just Sue, Fiona and myself to get a head start on the cafe. We even had a shout of encouragement from a lady at the Rose and Crown!

Service was quick and cheerful at the cafe, it was warm enough to sit out, and we had lots to chat about. Kev also joined us, having done a longer ride out to Longnor. The ride back had some more climbing out of Blaze Farm, but then some welcome downhills, and the long descent to Macclesfield Forest cured Sue's brake squeal.

We had some great views, well done to everyone, particularly those who had not ridden up to Blaze Farm before. Many thanks to Sue and Michelle for some of the photos.
