Wednesday Club Run - Dunham Massey

60 mile ride in the sun in between Ciara and Dennis

At around nine o'clock, with the temperature hovering around zero, the prospects of  the Wed club run going ahead appeared a bit dubious.  However six of us; Moray, Steve, Dave W, Dave H, Chris and Raph, reassured by the forecast sunny intervals, set off from south Park at 10 o'clock.  The day's route took us to Dunham Massey via the runway underpasses at Manchester Airport and, after a short pave detour after crossing the River Bollin  the route home took us across the runway at the former Stretton airfield, through Marbury Country Park and alongside Neumann's Flashes near Northwich.  By this time the sun was shining and a tailwind eased the ride back to Macc.  Great to get a 60 mile ride in the sun in between Ciara and Dennis (with 2500 ft of climbing at an average speed of around 13 mph).  Unfortunately the NTS cafe at Dunham Massey had a beans on toast rating of zero but at least they had some good cakes.
