Ride report - Just a Ride
Brrrr…. Chilly!.
Well it was dry as promised, but rather chilly, so five (James G, Mark H, Gary J, Nigel B and myself set off from Park Green to be joined by Alison in Sutton, then warming ourselves up climbing Hollin Lane then down past Bosley Reservoir to cross the Leek Road, skirting round the north edge of The Cloud before dropping into Congleton. Naturally we found a little bit of off-road down a steep path and the footbridge across the River Dane then headed to Giantswood Lane, only to find it closed due to the bypass works. A diversion is in place taking us back to the Macclesfield road , then left onto Smithy Lane. We did find numerous large puddles, aka floods, but nothing we couldn’t negotiate, and we were rewarded with nice clean bottom brackets! Despite protests from the masses I remain steadfast that we DID avoid Marton! and on joing Salters Lane from Chelford Road we met the 10-2-7 headed for Pexhill. The lure of tail-lights ahead proved too much of a temptation so all decency was abandonded as we each made a break to catch them. We re-grouped at the top, and made our way to the PT for a well earned reward.
