Wednesday Club Run to Hartington

Five (Dave, Eddie, Chris, Raph & me) at the start enjoying the crisp blue autumnal weather on the ride to Hartington via Morridge, Ford and Butterton.

Alas by the time we reached the Four Ways Motel Eddie felt unwell and returned home. Also the blue skies had been replaced by clag. The gang of four rode on into the gloom, up and down the hills till just before Hartington the sun reappeared. Unfortunately, it had disappeared again by the time we left the café.

So onward and upward via Sheen and Newtown to reach the A53 crossroad near Newstones. Then the decision was made to use the Macclesfield Wheelers freewheel course to test our aerodynamic riding skills with no drafting allowed. We all finished within 5 metres of each other. The result - Dave, Chris, Raph and last- me.

The route finished with high level views down onto Macclesfield via Meg Lane and Coalpits Lane.

Chris, Dave and Raph.

Coalpit Lane climb achieved. The last of 11 garmin specified climbs.

Ride Stats:  54 miles with 5241ft of climbing. Average speed 11.3 mph.
