What a day!

Thank you to all the helpers: course set up team, marshals, judges, sign on team, DJ Stretchy, and Ian for the web page, posters and banners. There were at least 40 club members and friends volunteering which is fab.

Thanks for the photos to Mark B, Mark W, Brian R, Jamie, Cath. Professional photography by Michael Hall here. Please credit Michael if you use any of his pictures.

Thanks to Greg for lending his own bikes to Ollie, Matt and Becky, and for organising one of the club’s bikes for Kirsten (see below).

Thank you to the Council for letting use the park, Lifestyle Fitness for the HQ and Cyclestore for sponsoring the event.

Thank you to the as yet unidentified new organiser who will step forward for 2020. After the year I’ve had, I would love to ride the SupaCross next year instead of organising it. If you’d like to find out what’s involved, please contact me at ruth.g@macclesfieldwheelers.org.uk

It was brutal... the hardest five miles I've ever cycled in my life... but I'll try anything once!!! The support from all the Macc Wheelers volunteer marshals, and the spectators, was amazing. And the children's races are the highlight of the day - a real community event for people of all ages and abilities.

Greg organised for me to use one of the three kid's bikes that the club bought with money given to it in memory of former member Ben Rathbone, without which I wouldn't have been able to take part, so big thanks for this.

On the Lark Ride the day before, Greg said he had a bike for me and I thought he was joking. But when I realised he was serious, I thought 'why not?'

Got on the bike half an hour before the race and couldn’t work out the gears, then got that sorted and lined up to start. I was a bit slow off the blocks as I’d never done cross before, or even practiced. I got into it after the first lap, and really enjoyed the experience.

I'll be back next year.
