Saturday Afternoon Club Run , March 9th

On a not very promising afternoon weather wise four of us had a decent ride out to Wheelock.

It was pretty hard going for the first hour or so into a fierce headwind but as we started heading more southwards round Middlewhich things got a little easier.

We headed back though Smallwood, Joe peeled off just before Radnor Bank, Dave was on a 5.15 curfew so with Nigel and myself Fred W we kept up as good a pace as we could through Marton and Gawswoth. We never really seemed to get away from that blustery wind but it stayed dry and Dave got back comfortably within time so all in all a good outing.

The vital statistics.

  • Miles on the clock: 49.7 from South Park to The Old Ship Inn

  • Average speed: 15.6 mph

  • Average age: Definitely to high as it was pointed out that I was the youngest in the bunch

  • Attendance at Wheelock Hall cafe: 100%

  • Attendance at the Old Ship Inn: 50%

So next time out it would be good to have some youngsters out to keep us old gits on our toes.
