Two Loops Out of Three

The Plan:

Made up the night before; “what shall we do tomorrow? What about the 3 loops? weather looks ok🤔, 130 miles h’mm that's an early start what about two?, ok the last loop is nice let's jump straight on that.

The Weather:

Not to plan. Snowing as we met at Broken X, horrible over the wizard, spots of rain of and on, a very slight headwind heading back, proper rain back at Broken X.

The Route:

Slightly lumpy around Beeston and Peckforton then an easy cruise down to the Dee literally only a few feet above sea level and reasonably flat ride back after that.

Refueling:

Good in Malpas, bacon & brie toastie with a brew £4.20, vegan options, chilli & chip’s, yummy looking cakes etc also sampled, friendly and quick service. Plus a squishy banana for yours truly about mile 80.

The Roads:

Slushy for the first few miles then not bad. The usual potholes in Cheshire East and West, probably not as many in Wales but MW and TDD stick to the rules and we didn’t want to wait until midnight Sunday to find out.

Mechanicals:

Just one, Mick broke a spoke near Beeston but Team DD had the skills to sort that.

The Ride:

Steady and sensible until Joe attacked at mile ninety something climbing up Pexhill (Joe 90😎)

Summary:

A top day out, so much so that I can feel another one coming on in summer bike weather when we might have the option of sitting inside a cafe instead of sitting on a bench hoping the spots of rain don't turn to a full downpour and we can have the all important recovery drink at a Pub🍻.
