Sunday easy ride to Moulton

15 of us ignored the heavy showers as we set off, and were rewarded with a mostly dry ride from Siddington.

We split into two groups at Jodrell Bank, John led a slightly faster group of 9, whilst I led a group of 6, with Jim as the back sweeper. There was a gusty headwind but we somehow managed to get to Moulton only a few minutes behind the first group.

It was our first time at the Crow’s Nest cafe which is in the village hall. They were hosting a Christening, but were still providing takeaway food and outdoor seating. The food was very good with cyclist size portions, the staff were very friendly and made sure that we all had discount cards for our next visit.

My group grew to nine for the ride back, we took a slightly different route for the return leg, including some cobbles and a visit to the Tree of Imagination. Snowy kindly agreed to navigate the final part of the route back to Macclesfield so that Jim and I could turn off back to Wilmslow.

It was a slightly longer ride than usual, 41 miles for those who started from Broken Cross, good practice for next week’s ride to Chester! Thanks to Mark and Lisa for some of today’s photos.
