Easy Ride around Circuit of the Edge

‘Easy Ride’ and ‘Circuit of the Edge’ is something of an oxymoron.

John led Adele, Jen, Jim, Gawsworth John and Robert (welcome!) from the mass start at the Town Hall. He picked up Martin near Broken Cross and I joined them at the first cafe stop at Alderley. Jim arrived a little after the rest after accepting the Swiss Hill challenge. Suitably refreshed, we all successfully conquered the climb up the Wizard, waved at various Wheelers climbing up Artists Lane as we descended, rode the loop around the bypass and back towards Alderley and made it back up Artists Lane, watching a faster group of Wheelers spit riders out the back as they raced up it. The rest of our route was uneventful until Pex Hill, when I managed to snap my rear mech and chain. After a quick burst of John Jackson magic I was equipped with a single gear and a good excuse for heading direct to Flora tea rooms. So it is possible to have an easy Circuit of the Edge (just 15 miles for me)! The rest of the group completed the full 33 miles and arrived at Flora in time to fill the seats vacated by the faster groups.
