6@6 Training Ride 8th October

The large circle of eight that formed in the car park at Broken X would have easily have divided into two equal groups of four but I foolishly listened to Andy who told me Jim would be turning up.

A first group of five went of while we waited for our fourth man but he never showed so the second group was just a 3 up, never mind I thought we will just have to work a bit harder it is a training ride after all.

The two minute turns came round quick enough and we kept it smooth but steady until the first interruption of the ride when Boothy’s left crank fell off on Forty Acre Lane. After five minutes work with a good allen key we were off and all went well again for a while but to cut a long story short lets just say Booth’y is the unchallenged Strava champion for one legged peddling the full Congleton Lane segment 🏆. He didn’t win anything on Pexhill though and Andy saw his chance to cross the line first 🥇 at Broken X. What a sportsman.

I’am not sure how it ended in the first group but I don’t think Andy would have been in contention with Christian S, Christian A and Paul. The group was missing Ant by then as he was trying to set his own record for cycling standing up out of the saddle as his seat post clamp had sheared in two at seven sister’s. Maybe there were something funny in the air causing metal fatigue or maybe it was just one of those night’s as Paul punctured as well.

Everyone was on winter bikes apart from Carl who's a law unto himself. He wasn't there for the fun on Pexhill either, not because of metal fatigue though, he must have gone home early to clean it as his summer bike must have been a right mess by Siddington. It's definitely a winter bike ride next week and through to spring, at least we've found all the weak points now so we won't have any more mechanical’s.
