Five Up 6@ 6 Training ride on 17th September

There was no need to sort two group’s out in the car park at Broken X last night

Four of us were at the meet up keeping a good two meter’s apart; Andy, Dave and Chris plus Mark joined in just after the Red Lion making it a 5 up for most of the ride.

It was another good one, and we made the best of the excellent conditions doing two minute turns at a fairly hard pace. From the push up to Seven Sister’s when gap’s tend to start opening up I called it so some rider’s (Chris) were doing a bit longer and some less. That seemed to work as no one actually missed a turn which is disruptive and I was pleasantly surprised that I had done a PB on X Goostrey X all be it by just 1 sec. Andy did a PB back to Siddington and if he had tried just a tiny bit harder on Pexhill he would have got one on the complete circuit instead he missed it by 6 sec’s.

As we started the push back up Pexhill it was Chris on the front and there were no changes after that, more a case of hanging on as long as possible. Mark and Andy sat up straight after the cross roads, I managed to hang on a bit further than last week, and Dave dropped off at Dark Ln / Bearhurst Ln, so it ended up; Chris, Dave, Fred on the virtual podium and like some of the finish’s on the tour no crowd’s to cheer us over the line. Andy and Mark also made the cut.

It was dusk as we got back to Broken X so lights will be needed towards the end of the ride next week but we will be setting off in daylight. Make the most of it before it becomes a regular winter ride.
