6@6 Training Ride on April Fools Day

At 6pm yesterday evening the 6@6 ride rolled out from Broken X and it was a good start to reinstated training rides.

Keeping a good distance apart in the car park we divided into two group’s. Rich, Ant, Mark W and Mark B were off first followed a minute later by Fred, Jill, Stockport Dave and Andy. By Siddington X road’s without trying to much the 1min gap was down to a couple of seconds and while we waited for traffic at the give way line’s we might have been inadvertently mistaken for one large group but that definitely wasn’t the case. Group one was reinforced by Carl across the A34 and  two distinct groups headed up towards the Red Lion.

After the enforced break from last year it was no trouble getting into riding with more than one other again in the same system used before, singled out, going through after two minute turns at a brisk pace. By the Three Greyhounds when a headwind became a significant factor it became an unequal match, our group losing out to group one’s five to four advantage. By Chelford we were effectively another team member  down when Andy cramped up, but thanks to some good strong turn’s on the drag up Congleton Lane we got back to Siddington in one well disciplined group in exactly the same order we had been there 1 hour 26 mins before and for the record  distinctly separated from the 5-up by 7+ mins.

Here’s some not to ambitious targets for the next time:

Andy; Get back up Pexhill without sitting up 😎.

Carl; Just get up Pexhill 🤪.

Anyone that can do but hasn’t done; Get out on a training ride, improve your riding skills, discipline, endurance, fitness and have some fun at the same time. 👍
