Easing of lockdown restrictions on 29/03/21

Following the release of the government's roadmap out of lockdown, the next easing of restrictions is due to take place on the 29th March. On the 29th of March, the ‘Rule of six’ will apply, by which 6 individuals can meet socially outdoors. This will allow for the return of group riding and club rides (Maximum riders of 6).

Many of you will have seen the announcement by British Cycling that groups of 15 will be permitted for British Cycling affiliated club rides due to the exceptions in government guidance for ‘organised sport’. However, the stance from Cycling UK (our insurer) is that we should take a more cautious approach, following the ‘rule of six’. This has to take precedence over the British Cycling Guidance, and understandably we do not think that the right message will be sent out to the public if cyclists are seen meeting in large groups socially.

Key things to note:

  • This easing of restrictions is subject to change and review on the 22nd March

  • The ‘Rule of six’ will not apply to indoor settings.

We are all very much looking forward to this easing of lockdown restrictions however we must remain vigilant and continue taking the relevant hygiene precautions.

Thank you for your ongoing support during this dynamic and challenging but optimistic time.
