Chilly Saturday Club Run

Some rides this weekend were cancelled, some rides were put back, but the club's core ride The Saturday Club Run went ahead as planned and on schedule.

After warming up our climbing legs on Blakelow Road we headed over the Cat down through Buxton then to the No Car Café in the scenic White Peak District.

Here's the vital statistics.

  • Miles on the clock: over 40

  • Total ascent: 4,800 feet

  • Average speed: 13mph+

  • Wind speed on Rushup Edge: enough to blow us backwards

  • Bums on saddles: 8. Eddie, Woody, Mick, Pete, Tim, Dave, Christian, Fred

  • Spockets on Andy R's  bike: 0, faulty rear mech, bike and rider all went missing

So that was it, quite a hard ride, especially the last mile before the café which seemed more like ten into a block headwind. Nevertheless we cracked on, got back by about 5-0-clock and it was definitely good to get out in the winter sun even if we didn't get a tan.
