Saturday Club Run on 14th December

We were quite lucky with the weather again on Saturday afternoon.

It was was a bit windy going out to the cafe stop at Wheelock Hall but nothing we could'n’t cope with and we knew we had missed some rain by the number of floods we had to navigate through ( I lost count). The worst one was on Holmshaw Lane shortly before the cafe stop. As a qualified sub aqua diver yours truly Fred W went through first, I didn’t need my aqualung and just managed without a snorkel but a dry suit would have been nice. My so called waterproof socks failed the test, the bottom bracket is going to be squeaking even more and I’am just hoping the wheel bearings have good seals.

The rest of the group: Mick, Christian, Ant, Vicky and Andy wern’t into watersports so they found a way round through a field, it looked even more dangerous than the drowning risk to me though, trying to get oneself and ones bike through a electric fence in ankle deep mud while wearing wet kit.⚡️⚡️

Heading back we seemed to be making good time so we extended the ride a little be going up to Smallwood rather than directly to Radnor Bank from Brereton, getting back to the Ship about 5.15.

Talking of which next Saturdays Club run will be the last before Xmas so there will be the traditional social in the Ship Inn following the ride to which all are welcome whether on the ride or not. Reasonably priced drinks are available from the bar 🍻🥃🥂 and if politley asked the management are ok if you want to bring a takeaway in.🍟

See you then.
