Wednesday Club Run - Flash circuit

Five set off from South Park. Raph, Dave W, Steve, Chris and me.

Dave H joined us for the first 2 of the 11 official Strava climbs. The tranquillity of the Goyt Valley, no car road, was memorable as we headed onward and upward via the Hollinsclough ‘wall’ climb to Flash. 31 miles and 4000+ feet of climbing by the time we arrived at Flash Bar Stores Café. Five hungry riders dived in to enjoy much needed food. Chris was so inspired by his generous plate of baked beans on toast (with soya spread) he pronounced this as the benchmark for all cafes to aspire to. “There must be a whole tin of beans on my plate” he exclaimed with rapturous joy. With the rest of us enjoying second breakfasts, BLTs and millionaire shortbread the café stop proved good value and a great re-fuel to continue on the remainder of the ride. I subsequently found out the café had recently been taken over by new owners.

Ride stats.

Distance: 57 miles Altitude gain: 5,792 ft Average Speed: 11.9 mph.
