Wed Club Run to Lordsley

Pretty intrepid of us heading off for Shropshire mid-week, into the Maer Hills and Hungersheath Farm (soya milk available).

66 miles scheduled, but a closed road in Alsager on our return leg meant we didn’t need a lot of persuading to avoid the off-road section around mile 49 that I had forgotten to remove from the route as I had promised myself after I last enjoyed this ride. And, by the way, Sandy Lane between Somerford and the A534 really is closed. Don’t imagine it’s a case of “can I just get through on my bike please mate?” unless you fancy dragging it over the six-foot earth embankment on the road that’s deployed to make you think again.

So 68.5 miles for me at an average speed of 13.2 mph. Rained most of the way back, only getting heavier around Alsager, outside of which we managed to lose 20% of our team (for the non-mathematicians, that’s one rider out of the five of us).
