Sunday Easy Ride to Plumley 23 Dec 2018

Ten of us turned out for today's easy ride, 6 at Broken Cross, 3 at Siddington and Yvonne met us at the cafe, timing it to perfection (warmed up and food ordered before we all arrived). As usual, we rode at the speed of the slowest rider, today that turned out to be an average of 14 mph by the time that we got to Plumley. It had something to do with wet roads, the need to keep warm, Adele's indoor training regime and Kirsten's new bike. We arrived at the cafe just after breakfast cut off time, but they kindly agreed to serve us breakfast bap options. The rain went heavier whilst we were inside, so some of us went for cake as well. The wood burning stoves were working well, resulting in 'boil in the bag' Griff, who had waterproof over trousers on. The rain had eased off again by the time that we got going again, but had an interesting effect on our brakes. Every time we had to stop it sounded like a string orchestra tuning up. Our next ride is on Boxing Day, there will be no easy ride next Sunday due to the Supacross. Some of us are helping, and a couple may be riding, even though we have warned them that there is no cake stop halfway, they will have to wait until the end! Others out today were Brian E, Phil B, Simon G, Jim, John J leading and me.
