Ride Report: 100 in 8

5 clubmembers championed the 100 mile in 8 hours elapsed time challenge this weekend.

On Saturday morning Mark H, Andy W and myself made the most of the weather and blazed our way around the Cheshire plain.

Our first stop, at 31 miles was at Wybunbury village stores where we wolfed our drinks and a rather yummy Eccles cake near the rather wonky church tower.

Taking it in turns against the suprisinlgy strong headwind through Audlem, Malpas and Threapwood before heading northwards and into Tattenhall. Second stop there at the Spar at 65 miles before finally enjoying our long awaited tailwind through Eaton, Whitegate, Moulton and Davenham. The pace was blistering (honest) until we reached Artists mountain where at 95 miles we were reduced to a crawl. Nontheless we arrived at Broken Cross in exactly 7 hours and rewarded ourselves with a well earned pint.

Also completing the challenge on Saturday was Rob M who did a fabulous solo ride easily falling within the allowed time. Kudos Rob!

On Sunday the one and only Ruth G completed her own solo ride, in under seven hours, laden with touring bags, extra bottles and lights, just to make it even harder. Fabulous!

The route is on the MW RWGPS page as Tour Of Cheshire copy if anyone would like it.

Congratulations to everyone who completed the challenge, you will receive a fabulous non-cash prize of ZERO THOUSAND POUNDS!!!!!

(it was just a bit of fun!)
