Devious route to Astbury

There were 19 riders out on today's easy ride from Macclesfield to Glebe Farm, enjoying an unexpectedly dry day.

Welcome to Michelle and Ruth A, out with us for the first time. We split into two groups at Siddington Cross Roads, with just Jim and John B opting to join me for the shorter and slower route. In practice we were not going much slower and caught up with the larger group at a couple of junctions. John J had come up with a new and devious route which took us along a couple of new lanes and twisted and turned through various housing estates around Congleton.

My route was 2 miles shorter, avoiding the muddy loop at the end, and meaning that we arrived at the cafe ahead of the rest. Mr and Mrs Griff were already there with Winston the dog, having come on 4 wheels. By the time the rest had arrived there was a long wait for hot food, so a number opted for cake, and were ready to join my group to make 9 on the way back. We had a trouble free ride back via Radnor Bank, whilst John's group had a puncture, quickly fixed with some help from Sue's tweezers!
