Sunday Easy Ride to Dunham Barn

19 of us were out on our bikes today for a dry and sunny club run.

11 started from Wilmslow and 8 from Broken Cross. I took my group on the advertised route, apart from a short cut to remove the Lymm loop and get us to the cafe first. The only flaw in the cunning plan was that a large group from Bury Tandem Club got in before us, so the cafe had run out of eggs and bacon. We had to make do with sausage barms and beans on toast. Mark H arrived on 4 wheels after completing a very hilly and wet 200km audax on Saturday, followed by the second Wilmslow group and the Macc riders.

It was Griff's birthday, so Mark H treated him to cooked breakfast, and a number of riders decided to accompany Griff to a second cafe stop at Costas in Alderley. Several followed Jim and Griff on their bridleway route across Lindow. This included a steep gradient over what used to be Newgate tip, now a nature reserve, and Jack provided some unexpected birthday entertainment when he fell off into the brambles, recovered, and then fell back into them. No harm was done but he may have a new nickname now! Suggestions so far have included bramble Jack and jumping Jack.

Join us next week for some more cycling, cafes and banter!
